It is advisable not to buy food or drink from mobile stalls on the roads around the tourist sites as they are very expensive. It is better to buy from a bar. If you sit at a table you will have to pay extra for this service. If you can still stand at the bar, you pay less. BEWARE OF GLADIATORS! …at the Coliseum as they will charge you a minimum of €5 for a photo. If you decide to take a horse and cart ride around the city, always agree the price up front. If you go to visit the Vatican or any other churches, legs must be covered (down to the knee) Always try to go early to the Vatican to avoid queues. Every last weekend of the month, entrance to the Vatican Museum is free. Always take care of your belongings when you are out as you would do in any big city. Make sure you bring confortable shoes ( trainers ) as you will be doing a lot of walking around the the beautiful sites of Rome. |
